Ezequiel Sanucci was raised in Buenos Aires and he had contact with tango since his childhood. His grandparents sang tango songs to him, he saw them dancing it
in the living room of their house or they told him stories about Gardel, his father studied the bandoneon and his mother taught him the lunfardo (slang of tango lyrics) when they were
listening to the radio. At ballet school, he had classes of tango and Argentinean folklore and later he danced choreographed tango pieces and stylized
tango ballets. There he also had the opportunity to see top tango dancers and listen to live orchestras such as Astor Piazzola.
Since he is living in Europe, tango is for him his connection to his roots, country and culture. That's why he started frequenting the milongas where he also made good friendships.
Although his focus during those years was set on his contemporary dance career, were his friends who insisted that he should devote him self more to tango. Motivated by the idea of
researching on the fusion between tango and contemporary dance, he studied it very intensively and less than a month and a half later he was dancing his first exhibition at the Academia
de Tango in Amsterdam. Since then he combines tango with his contemporary dance projects. |
